Kyle Rittenhouse hires Nick Sandmann lawyer

One of the lawyers that represents Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann has joined Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal team and immediately declared that he will be pursuing between 10 to 15 defamation lawsuits against individuals and organisations for comments made about his client.

Attorney Todd McMurtry told Fox News Digital earlier today that Ritenhouse’s “job prospects are permanently diminished” and that his client has suffered “perpetual reputational harm” as a result of the fake news and comments that have been peddled. An example was given by McMurtry as to how Facebook handled the incident at the time. The social media giant designated the shootings as ‘a mass murder incident’ and censored comments made by anyone who challenged that narrative or spoke out in defense of the youngster.

“Let’s just use for an example what Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg said,” explained McMurtry. “They said that he was involved in a mass murder incident. This was not a mass murder incident. It was clearly factually false.

“To call somebody a mass murderer is seriously defamatory. And then to use the power of social media to basically censor any views that would take opposition to that mass murderer statement is a serious effort to destroy his character. And it was seriously mistaken and seriously defamatory.”

He added: “Facebook has an outsized voice, they can do a lot of damage, as compared to somebody maybe who has a small blog with 100 subscribers. But we’re going to look at everything that we have access to and that’s been published, and decide which ones are actionable.”

McMurtry secured multiple settlements with various media organizations for comments they made about Sandmann following their coverage of the ‘January 2019 Lincoln Memorial confrontation‘ and Rittenhouse will be hoping for a similar outcome in the future.
